I spent a year in Germany as an Au Pair from 2008-2009. I lived in southern Germany in der Schwarzwald (Black Forest) in a beautiful little town called Tonbach. I still think of my German family often and I long to be back in the forest and grassy hills wandering around immersed in the beauty that nature has provided.

Autumn in Germany was a beautiful and peaceful time. I was just getting used to the new environment I was now living in, and soaking everything in-which can be a bit overwhelming, but I managed. The changing of the leaves was like no other transformation I had ever seen. From green, to bright red, to orange, to bright yellow. The German leaves trump American leaves by far!
